CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. It is used when someone is unresponsive and not breathing normally. CPR keeps blood flowing to the brain and vital organs until emergency help arrives.

AED stands for automated external defibrillator. It is a device that checks the heart rhythm and can deliver an electric shock if needed. AEDs are designed to be used by ordinary bystanders and give voice/visual instructions.

For a real emergency in South Africa, call 112 from a cellphone or 10177 for ambulance/medical emergencies, then start CPR and send someone to get an AED.
