The ROAD TRANSPORT DANGEROUS GOODS DRIVER course prepares learners to safely handle, load, transport and offload dangerous goods by road.
This course focuses on the legal, safety and practical requirements that apply when transporting dangerous goods. Learners are introduced to dangerous goods classification, transport documentation, packaging, labelling, placarding, compatibility, route planning, inspections and emergency response.
Learners will gain knowledge of important documents used in dangerous goods transport, including the Dangerous Goods Declaration, TRECARD, Safety Data Sheet, transport documents and required vehicle documentation.
The course also covers the responsibilities of drivers and other role-players involved in dangerous goods transport. Learners will understand why compliance, correct documentation, vehicle cleanliness, safe loading, securement checks and emergency planning are important.
During the practical component, learners will practise checking documentation, identifying packaging and labels, reporting non-compliance, conducting vehicle inspections, loading and offloading dangerous goods, checking load securement during transport and responding to incidents or emergencies.
By completing this course, learners will be better prepared to transport dangerous goods safely, protect the public, reduce environmental risks, prevent accidents and follow legal and company requirements.
